    This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.

    Just posting the following in case it helps anyone else in the future. The resolution was to install the Visual 2008 C++ Redistributable package (per the detailed notes for KB000257 which I forgot to read! :))

    * Upgraded my K2 install from 4.7285.1.0 to 4.8075.1.0

    * Installed the three patches (KB000254, KB000257, KB000260) on the site in order of patch # (least to greatest)

    I of coure ran the config manager again and rebooted the machine.

    After doing this, the K2 workspace gave me the following error when brought up in IE:

    This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1)

    I then reran the setup for K2 and did a Repair, ran the config manager, and rebooted again. The error remained.

    There are also the following interesting error log entries in the System Event Log on the machine:

    * Generate Activation Context failed for c:\program files\k2 blackpearl\Host Server\Bin\K2Worklist.dll. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

    * Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC90.CRT. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

    * Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

    I believe Tim said "The resolution was to install the Visual 2008 C++ Redistributable package (per the detailed notes for KB000257 which I forgot to read!"
