Task List Web Part not refreshing

We had WSS 2.0 installed, and the K2 tasklist Web part was working correctly.  We migrated to WSS 3.0.  The K2 Web Part still shows a user's tasks correctly when the page is first loaded, or when the page is refreshed completely.  However, we have the refresh interval set to 10 seconds, but the web part does not refresh.  Also, when the user presses that Refresh icon, the web part does not show any new items.  The only way to get new items to appear is to refresh the entire page.

I spoke with the technical support concerning this issue, and was directed to download and install the latest web part.  I was successful in doing this, but it did not help.  I was able to determine that the latest version of the web part was installed by viewing the properties in the web part gallery.  The current version of the web part is 3.7033.1.0.

I viewed the source for the SharePoint page that houses the Web part.  I found the javascript that is suppose to be called when the 10 seconds is up or the refresh icon is press.  I logged on the server housing our SharePoint services using a logon with elevated authority.  I copied the url obtained into a browser and was presented with a That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers error.

I do not know if I can change the security settings for the web part or the assembly, or if it must be done by the development team.   Can anyone give me some guidance on this?
