Updating SharePoint List Items

Hello all…

So in building out my MOF process I ran into an issue that I thought I would share will you all so that you may not have to deal with it…

As part of the process I needed to create a new entry in a SharePoint list.  Then at various points throughout the process update the entry that was initially created in the beginning of the process.  At the end of the processes just copy it to a new list and delete the old.  Sounds simple enough but I had issues.  I got it to work once but t hen not again after that.  Until blackpearl master HOLLY helped me see the error of my ways.  Here is how it should work.

1.        Supply the basic information for the list and create a new content field as part of the wizard.  Shown below.

Finish going through the wizard as normal.

Now when you need to update that entry you have to make sure you select the item at right level.  See how it looks below.

as we zooom in

Once you select the right “Item”  you should be good to go

Give this a try and let us know if  you have problems. Hopefully this works for you and you can use it in the processes you are building.
