The author of the diary and the diary itself are, of course, imaginary

but nonetheless, whenever i find myself in some kindof trouble, i will always reach out to a few people at K2 to find the answer.  it usually comes within minutes, if not seconds, straight to the point and easy to digest.  i love working with people smarter than me.  it makes life so smooth, you know?  just ask your neighbor, they've already thought this through, inside and out.

today i'll install blackpearl rtm.  with much excitement it's been released this week after a few frustrating delays and we're all pumped about it.  i've got customers and prospects calling me almost hourly with questions about the platform.  partners are whipping off emails with requests to meet, collaborate and get things moving.  what a thrill it is to be part of this wave.  here's to hoping it never hits the shore.

and then reality sets in ... i've actually got to boot a vpc, copy some files, run an installer, yada yada.  wouldn't it be nice if "the" OS was already on the web?  why wait?  that way i could just grab a copy of someone elses vpc as easily as i add a link to my del.icio,us account.  silly hardrive, what a relic!

anyway, back to smooth.  so i reached out to JK here at K2 and he had the following suggestions, post install:

  1. add Object Browser to VS2005
  2. setup MOSS Central Admin - deploy webpart, do K2Admin tab tasks
  3. add admin to Workflow Service as admin/export
  4. add My Documents link to admin desktop
  5. add MOSS to the environment library
  6. ensure Reporting Data Connections which timeout if you do it wrong, look for info by Codi to resolve this
  7. ensure the SmartForms autogen functionality - I haven't tested this yet, don't even know if this works in RTM or is included
  8. ensure ViewFlow is setup - again, same as above

i'll post more after i give it a shot myself.  few hours from now, i guess.
